Footpath towards Cold Overton Park Wood

Cold Overton Park is the remnant of a mediæval park in Leicestershire, whose eastern boundary is along the county boundary with Rutland. It is one of the best examples of a mediæval private deer park found in Leicestershire. The park itself has long since been sold out of its original function as a lordly park. It does however give a name to Cold Overton Park Woods.

Adjoining Cold Overton Park, beyond the wood, is another mediæval deer park, namely Flitteris Park in Rutland; the boundary between the two is the county boundary. The county top of Rutland lies in Flitteris Park.
