Silvertown is a town in Essex on the north bank of the River Thames, with North Woolwich to the east and Charlton across the river to the south.
The town developed in the 1850s around a rubber works set up by S.W. Silver and Co and was once home to numerous industrial works. It is still home to a large Tate & Lyle sugar refinery.
