Newtown, Montgomeryshire

Newtown is the largest town in Montgomeryshire; an old town but swollen since the 1960s by new town development.

Newtown stands by the River Severn. It was the birthplace of the industrialist Robert Owen in 1771, whose house now being a museum. Newtown is also the home of Theatr Hafren and an art gallery, Oriel Davies. (Read more)
