Westminster is a city in Middlesex.
The effective capital of the United Kingdom, Westminster is the site of all the organs of rule and government. Buckingham Palace is the Queen's town residence. Around Parliament Square stands the Palace of Westminster, home of Parliament, Whitehall where the chief offices of state are found and the Supreme Court of the United Kingdom, housed in the Middlesex Guildhall. On the fourth side of the Square, moderator between these three organs of government, stands Westminster Abbey.
