Borthwick is a hamlet in Midlothian, just to the northeast of North Middleton. It stands on the Gore Water upstream from Gorebridge. The Gore Water is formed her from the Middleton North Burn and the Middleton South Burn.
To the west of the village is the fifteenth-century Borthwick Castle.
