Monquhitter
From Wikishire
Monquhitter is a parish in northern Aberdeenshire, six miles east of Turriff containing the villages of Cuminestown and Garmond. The farm on which the church was originally built was termed ‘’Montquhitter’’, or ‘’Monquhitter’’, a word signifying "the place for ensnaring the deer". The parish adopted this name after it was disjoined from the parish of Turriff in 1649.
The present church in Cuminestown was built in 1868 on the site of the 1649 original and is a Category B listed building.
