St Andrews and St Leonards
St Andrews and St Leonards is the name of a combined civil parish in Fife consisting of the ancient parishes of St Andrews and St Leonards. The northern boundary of the parish is formed by the North Sea from the River Eden to the Kenly Water. It is bounded to the east by Kingsbarns; on the south by Crail, Dunino, Cameron and Ceres; to the west by Kemback; and to the north-west by Leuchars. The population in 2011 was 18,408.
The ancient parish of St Leonards consists of four detached parts: The largest of over 1,000 acres is to be found in the very south-east of the combined parish on the Kenly Water. The other three are to be found within St Andrews itself: One to the north of the Cathedral ruins, incorporating a roughly triangular area around Gregory Lane and Gregory Place; One to the south of the Cathedral, incorporating St Leonards School; and one north of the Kinness Burn to the west of the town incorporating the parish church. The parish of St Leonards had an association with St Andrews University going back to the sixteenth century, whereby the chapel of St Salvator's College was used as the parish church. This ended in 1898, and the parish church independent of the university was built between 1902-04.
