The River Bann in Coleraine, County Londonderry

River Bann

The River Bann is a river that flows through or borders four counties and, with a length of eighty miles, is the longest river in Northern Ireland.

The Upper Bann rises in the Mourne Mountains and discharges into Lough Neagh, and the Lower Bann issues from the lough, marking the border of County Antrim with County Londonderry, flowing due north to the sea as a broad, rich river. The two parts are accounted one river to give it its full length and both are a more beautiful and celebrated stream. (Read more)
