Someries Castle

Someries Castle is a ruined castle, and a Scheduled Ancient Monument, near Luton in Bedfordshire. It was in its day a fortified manor house, built in the 15th century by Sir John Wenlock.

The name 'Someries Castle' is from William de Someries, a previous owner of the estate until it was bought by Wenlock in 1430 to build his manor house, which was never completed, but is still regarded as one of the first brick mediæval buildings in Britain. (Read more)
