Waltham Chase is a village in Hampshire, immediately south-east of the town of Bishop's Waltham. A mile to the south is Shedfield, a smaller village but its parent village.

Previously this was a forest area, reserved for the hunting of game. The village started to establish its own, independent identity in the 19th Century.

About the village

The village has a Methodist church, Waltham Chase Methodist Church. The Church of England church, St John the Baptist, is in Shedfield.

The village has one pub, The Black Dog.

Waltham Chase Meadows near the village have been designated s site of special scientific interest, described as "one of the best examples in the county of dry neutral unimproved pasture."[1]

Across the road from the Moors Nature Reserve is the Chase Mill, which was still in use in 1957. This mill has been featured on a television restoration programme, Salvage Squad on Channel 4.
